By Act of Congress on March 1, 1872, Yellowstone National Park was "dedicated and set apart as a public park or pleasuring ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people" and "for the preservation, from injury or spoilation, of all timber, mineral deposits, natural curiosities, or wonders. . . and their retention in their natural condition." 1892, Pennsylvania. Stock certificate for 6 shares. Green/Black. Attractive triple vignette at top center of the Pennsylvania State Seal flanked by a sailing ship and steam locomotive. Issued to The Charles E. Hires Company and signed by Charles Hires on the stub. Charles E. Hires (1851 – 1937) A Philadelphia pharmacist, Hires originally called his beverage "root tea", but was convinced by a friend that it would sell better in his local area if he called it "root beer". Cut cancelled at officers’ signatures, all paper intact. Hires’ signature is unaffected. Unique on this certificate. Fine.
