Paul Hayne.(1830–1886) was a nineteenth century Southern American poet, critic, and editor of minor but historical distinction. DS. 2pp. 9 3/4" x 7". Charleston. 27 Mch 1852. A Bank of Charleston stock certificate signed by poet Paul Hayne on the verso. The 15 shares were issued to Hayne's wife, Emily. There is an engraved vignette of state seal. There is light overall browning and folds, but Hayne's signature is dark. A fine association between a well-known Charleston poet and a stock certificate.
