WEBB, WILLIAM S.
A physician by training, Webb married the daughter of William H. Vanderbilt in 1883 and, not surprisingly, began a rapid rise through the ranks of Vanderbilt-related companies. He became president of such companies as the Wagner Palace Car Company, Fulton Chain Railway Company, Fulton Navigation Company, and a director of the Pullman Company, Rutland Railway Company, and the St. Lawrence & Adirondack Railway Company. He was also the builder and President of the Mohawk & Malone Railway Company.
