1941, New Jersey. Stock certificate for 1737 2/3 shares. Brown/White. Title in clouds. Signed by Hall of Famer Edward Barrow as secretary and "Lonesome" George Weiss as vice president, also a Hall of Famer and issued to George E. Ruppert, H. Garrison Silleck, Jr. and Byron Clark, Jr. as Executor of the last will and testament of Jacob Ruppert, deceased.
George was his Jacob’s brother and the heir’s of Ruppert’s estate were owners of the Yankee’s from 1939-1945.

 NEWARK INTERNATIONAL BASEBALL CLUB. Baseball in Newark began in 1902 when the Newark Indians became charter members of the Class-AAA International League. In 1931 Jacob Ruppert bought the Indians, and renamed them the Bears. For the next 18 years Yankees prospects played for the Bears at Ruppert Stadium, including future Hall of Famer Yogi Berra, who starred for the Bears in 1946.

EDWARD G. BARROW (1863-1953) was the business manager of the New York Yankees (1921-1939), succeeding Jacob Ruppert as President (1939-1945).

JACOB RUPPERT (1867-1939) had purchased the struggling Yankees team for $450,000 in 1914, bought Babe Ruth, hired Barrow, built Yankee Stadium (1923) and saw his team transformed into the most successful professional sports franchise in history.

GEORGE WEISS (1894-1972) "Lonesome George" Executive, Hall Of Fame, 1971. His 29 seasons with the New York Yankees (1932-60) brought 19 pennants, 15 World Championships, and handsome profits.
